The custom lighting process
At SATTLER, we see special luminaires or project luminaires as individual lighting solutions that are perfectly tailored to the needs and wishes of our customers. We have developed a clearly structured process to ensure that each luminaire not only meets the highest technical and aesthetic standards, but is also seamlessly integrated into your architecture.
In several precisely coordinated steps - from the initial idea to feasibility analysis and production - we work closely with our customers to turn their visions into reality. On this page, we present all the phases of our process and show you how a unique lighting concept is created from an idea.

Clarification of the framework conditions
Your sales contact will work with you to create a clear understanding of your idea. We will discuss designs, budgets, schedules and - if desired - we will work with you to create a comprehensive lighting plan for your overall project to lay the foundation for a smooth project.
Step 3:
Feasibility check
Twice a week, we hold a “special lighting” meeting in which we discuss ideas like yours in detail and develop solutions. These regular meetings enable precise and efficient coordination tailored to your individual requirements.
Our interdisciplinary team for these meetings always consists of an electronics engineer, a design engineer, a designer, the management and experienced installers. The feasibility of your idea is worked through together in a structured analysis.
The result: a quick answer with a clear YES or NO. (In the event of a NO, however, we usually have an alternative solution proposal ready).
Step 4:
Initial feedback
We focus on transparency and always keep you involved. In consultation, we discuss the results of the feasibility check to ensure that all your requirements are met.
Step 5 (optional):
Preparation of rough cost offer
If you wish, we can draw up a non-binding rough quotation to give you an early indication of the possible costs of your project.
Step 6 (Optional):
We make it “tangible”
We turn your idea into reality. We do this with detailed drawings, 3D visualizations or a prototype. Depending on the luminaire and requirements - sometimes the prototype is also necessary to check practical feasibility.
We develop a wide variety of prototypes to test different approaches and find the optimum solution for your requirements.
Step 7:
Feedback round
Your input is essential. We consult with you again in a feedback session to perfect every detail and exceed your expectations.
Step 8:
Reliable offer
With all the details agreed, we create a reliable and precise offer. This gives you the planning security you need for your decisions.
On request, this quotation can also include installation by our own team. In the case of very complex project luminaires, we may even insist on this.
Step 9:
Release and start of production
Once the order has been placed, we start with the detailed planning. In most cases, precise technical CAD design drawings are created and submitted to you for approval before production begins.
However, to avoid unnecessary work too early in the project, the design drawings are not actually created until after the order has been received.
Step 10:
Luminaire production in our factory
From design to production, we ensure that everything runs smoothly. Depending on the complexity, the production time is 8-10 weeks for minor adjustments and approx. 12-14 weeks for completely newly developed project luminaires with a high degree of complexity.
Step 11:
Customized packaging
During the entire process of creating the luminaire, it is important not to lose sight of how the final product will reach you, or the end customer. As project luminaires often involve special dimensions or oversize, we also develop packaging that is tailored to the project luminaire.
Step 12:
Installation by your own team
On request, our in-house team will take care of the professional installation of your special luminaire. So you can be sure that we will do everything we can to bring your project to a successful conclusion.
