Since the beginning of 2022, Sattler has been a partner at Concular, the marketplace for the circular economy in the construction industry. With the return of 16 CIRCOLO ring luminaires from a redevelopment project in Düsseldorf, we started the exciting path towards the implementation of the circular principle.
Circularity as a design and manufacturing principle
The design and manufacturing of our luminaires are ideally suited to the circularity approach. All components of the luminaires have always been built in such a way that they can also be disassembled again without any complications. That’s why we already think about the take-back of the luminaires in ten, twenty or thirty years when designing our luminaires, sourcing and the entire manufacturing process. We see the greatest opportunity for the future in the closed-loop principle and are already thinking it through to the end today.
Circularity as an opportunity for Germany as a production location
Our luminaires are created through a balanced interplay of design, experience and craftsmanship. This is accompanied by a passion for our craft. Through the mindful selection of materials and manufacturing methods, we also have great confidence in Germany as a production location and the principle of circular economy. The conscious focus on a close cooperation with regional partners and suppliers ensures a complete documentation of the processes and materials we need for this.
Circularity as a manufacturer’s obligation
As a manufacturer, we see it as our duty to take back our own products after the 1st life cycle. This implies in perspective a take-back of the products. And, we then give our luminaires a 2nd life. We see a new market potential with the 2nd life cycle of our products. Especially for sustainable real estate projects. This enables new calculation models, better emissions calculations and sends a forward-looking message to builders and owners.
“The principles of the circular economy will be an important part of our thinking as entrepreneurs and the company’s future. In designing, in manufacturing and in distribution. Circular Economy principles will lead the way in the future,” says Sven Sattler, Managing Director Sattler GmbH
EMISSION
„The Building Industry is responsible for 40% of all the greenhouse gas emissions and for 60% of all waste.

OUR CIRCULARITY STATEMENT
1
We see the greatest opportunity for the future in the circular principle and are already thinking it through to the end today.
We therefore carefully think through the design of our luminaires, the sourcing and the entire manufacturing process.
2
As a manufacturer, we see it as our duty to take back our own products after the first life cycle.
In perspective, this implies a take-back guarantee.
And, we then give our luminaires a second life.
3
We see new market potential with the 2nd life cycle of our products.
Especially for sustainable real estate projects.
This enables new calculation models, better carbon emission balance sheet and sends a future-oriented message to builders and owners.
