LIGHT FOLLOWS STRUCTURE

In the southern Stuttgart district of Möhringen, the central high-rise of the former Daimler AG campus was given a new building base with an elaborately three-dimensional glass lobby façade as part of a revitalisation project.

Crystalline glass surfaces wrap around the building core over two floors and create space for reception and conference areas. New entrance and meeting areas were created within these on the ground floor and first floor. The new spatial concept impresses with a high standard of finish and a new lighting concept that harmonises perfectly with the extravagant glass façade structure on both floors.

Based on the PALADIO luminaire series, SATTLER, in collaboration with BM+P ARCHITEKTEN and Elektroplan Ingenieur GmbH (with the support of Simone Waldenmaier), developed project-specific pendant luminaires and light ceilings that pick up on the crystalline structure of the new glass façade, thus conveying a harmonious combination of architecture and lighting design to visitors.

An additional power rail makes it possible to add extra spotlights to perfectly showcase the highlights on display.

Prismatically shaped light elements

The prismatically shaped recessed luminous ceilings with different side lengths, fitted with stretch film, integrated in the lobby area create a homogeneous lighting atmosphere. Further linear light elements are integrated in the surrounding profile frame of the PALADIO series, and an additional power rail makes it possible to accommodate further spots to perfectly showcase the highlights presented. The DALI light control system, installed by the customer, in combination with the LEDs used in the light colour Tunable White 2700-6500 K, enables individual light control of all luminaires.

The triangular profile pendant luminaires were suspended asymmetrically on the first floor, following the profile of the glass façade. The luminaires are also equipped with indirect light modules; this combination ensures glare-free and reflection-free illumination of the meeting and work areas.

In addition to the development and production, SATTLER was also responsible for the complete, on-time installation of the luminaires by its own team of specialists.
